Slavonian Grebes, Peregrines etc.

Slavonian Grebes, Peregrines etc.

Only twenty nine pairs of Slavonian Grebes were found on this years survey of breeding sites in the highlands, the lowest total ever recorded.
On a brighter note a pair of Peregrine Falcons on the Black Isle successfully fledged three young. It is wonderful to see five Peregrines in the air together.
The annual moult migration of Canada Geese has begun with 350 at Alness and 30 at Dingwall seen earlier this week. Other recent records include a Hobby on Skye in late june and a Rose-coloured Starling at Alness this week.
