January News

Trevor Gunton's talk at our opening Indoor Meeting of 2008 pulled in a big audience. Trevor, who founded the RSPB Local Groups network some 35+ years ago, talked about Shetland's seabirds, Otters and other wildlife, emphasising the enormous diversity of animals in this precious, yet fragile habitat. We also learned a few things about the Vikings!

Our first coach trip takes us to the recently-acquired Fen Drayton RSPB reserve and the Ouse Washes RSPB reserve. Both reserves have been flooded by the recent heavy rains, but we still anticipate seeing a good variety of water birds (Black-necked Grebes have been seen at both sites recently), passerines and hopefully a few waders.
