May and June News

May and June News

Our season of indoor meetings may now be over, but we have plenty of outdoor trips lined up for May and June, starting with a coach trip to Thursley Common on Sunday 17 May. This Surrey heathland reserve is noted for its plants and invertebrates, as well as for some special birds including hobby, woodlark, redstart, tree pipit and, if they have managed to survive the recent hard winter, Dartford warbler. Our final coach trip of the season on 10 June takes us to RSPB Strumpshaw Fen reserve, where we will hope to see swallowtail butterflies, Norfolk hawker dragonflies and an abundance of plants and invertebrates in addition to the birds which should include hobby, bittern, bearded tits and marsh harriers. This will be a magnificent way to finish our season of coach trips, but we are also running a programme of local spring walks: for more details see the Events page of this website.
