November and December News for 2012

Steve Magennis visits 'The Settlement' on 2 November to take us amongst the 20,000 breeding gulls on Walney Island in Cumbria for a talk entitled 'Gulls, Gulls and more Gulls'. We make a return visit to the excellent young RSPB reserve at Frampton Marsh on the Lincolnshire Wash on 18 November, looking for raptors, waders, water fowl and much more besides. On 7 December we celebrate our 40th birthday in style with a visit from "Urban Birder" David Lindo: this may be his last talk, so this is definitely one meeting not to be missed! Members are encouraged to bring cakes for a celebratory nosh-up! Our final field trip of the year is an 'own transport' visit to Eyebrook Reservoir, Rutland Water's smaller and much more attractive neighbour, on 9 December, where we will be looking for woodland birds, waders and wintering wildfowl (smew a possibility). Following this trip we will be taking a well-earned Christmas break!
