March and April News for 2014

March and April News for 2014

On Friday 7 March we welcome Peter Holden MBE to "The Settlement" to give a talk entitled "RSPB's Natural Secrets". Peter has had an outstanding career at the RSPB and he will be explaining how birds and many other species of wildlife depend on our work. On Sunday 16 March we make a long overdue return to the superb Essex estuarine reserve of Fingringhoe Wick, with its varied habitats and impressive selection of wildfowl and waders. We will have an extended stop at Abberton Reservoir (Layer de la Haye causeway) on the way to look for birds, which may include early spring migrants.
On Friday 4 April award winning wildlife photographer Danny Green makes his first visit to "The Settlement" to give a talk entitled "The Long Journey North", in which he guides us on a stunning journey through some of the most remote parts of Northern Europe. This talk is a "must" for anyone interested in wildlife photography! On Sunday 13 April we make a return visit to Pagham Harbour. This splendid coastal reserve, now run by the RSPB, welcomes both ourselves and returning summer visitors, which could include whimbrel, osprey and pied flycatcher (all seen on previous visits).
