March and April News 2016

On Friday 4 March we welcome Steve Lovell to "The Settlement". This is Steve's first visit and he will be talking about the status, behaviour, distribution and threats to the primates of the world, which range in size from tiny marmosets to mighty gorillas. On Sunday 20 March we will be visiting Attenborough Gravel Pits, on the banks of the River Trent in Nottinghamshire. Cettis warblers and tree sparrows breed here and we may also see wintering bitterns. With luck we may find one or two early returning sand martins, which could be investigating their new artificial nesting bank.
On Friday 1 April we welcome Jeff Blincow to "The Settlement". Jeff will be talking about the dramatic scenery, superb wildlife and unique culture of Bhutan, a small Himalayan country. On Sunday 17 April we will be taking the coach to Rye Harbour, on the East Sussex coast, where we will be looking for newly arrived summer visitors and passage migrants in this attractive Sussex Wildlife Trust reserve.
For further details of all these events and information about our spring walks, which will be posted in March, see our "events" page.
