January and February News 2017

January and February News 2017

By any standards the start of 2017 has seen some quite outstanding talks and field trips. In January Bill Coster returned to provide us with an outstanding 'sound and light' show featuring The Shetland Isles. Bill is one of the best wildlife photographers around and the combination of evocative music and bird sounds with superb images made us all wish that we could visit these islands ourselves. In February Peter Holden provided us with a quite superb and inspirational talk on the subject of migration. Whilst bird migration was dealt with in detail, Peter reminded us that mammals, insects, amphibians and fish also undertake incredible feats of migration - the natural world is truly amazing! Our field trips to West Stow Country Park and Lynford Arboretum (January) and WWT Slimbridge (February) were also very successful, even though we had to put up with some dodgy weather on the first of these visits. For full details of what we saw, see the 'Trip Reports' page. Next up for us in March is a visit from one of Europe's foremost bird photographers, David Tipling, on Friday 3 March at 'The Settlement' - the pace and the quality of our events is unrelenting! For full details of future events see the 'Events' page, which will be updated in the next month or two with our 2017-18 programme.
