Arrived at Brockholes just after it opens at 10am. The weather was kind and the reserve produced a very good selection of birds. We had Chiff Chaff, quite a few Sand Martin, some saw House Martin & Swallow as well, Goosander, a perched Kestrel and quite a few of us saw a Mink crossing the river Ribble! The warden was very interested in this unwelcome visitor to the reserve.

A few of us also had 2 summer plumaged Mediterranean Gulls as well as Little Egret, Peregrine and Little Ringed Plover. Most saw Ringed Plover & Nuthatch with some seeing Treecreeper and Great Spotted Woodpecker. David Butterfield was very lucky and saw a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker!!

Quieter down at the estuary at Lytham but we did have Curlew, Grey Plover, Dunlin, Bar Tailed Godwit & Shelduck. We also found time to make a quick visit to the rspb Ribble Discovery Centre by Fairhaven Lake. Not much on the lake but it did provide a nice warm and sunny end to the day.
