With 25 people on board, the coach left Springwood carpark at 8.30. The weather was very cold and dull. The group walked along the shore road at Marshside and enjoyed views of large numbers of Pink Footed geese Shelduck and Black Tailed Godwits. From the hides and visitors centre a large variety of waterfowl could be seen including Pintails teal and widgeon. There were also reports of sightings of Twite and great white egret. Two Brown Hairs were also seen by several members of the group. On return to the bus those sat at the front were treated to the sight of a Merlin taking off from a Post. Martin Mere, provided lots to see, with Whooper Swans, Pink footed Geese, and Ruff. Also for those who were lucky Kingfisher, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Brambling, Several Buzzards and a Green Winged Teal. The group reported seeing 78 different species of bird and it was generally agreed that the day had been very enjoyable. The coach left Martin Mere at 4.30, the trip cost £15 each + entry to Martin Mere (for none WWT members) at the special rate £8 each
