We arrived at Hartlepool Headland at 10.30. We were greeted by a heavy Sea Fret which was of great concern to the group as visibility was so bad. Fortunately the fog began to lift a little as the sun broke through. We did manage to see a number of bids including a first winter male Eider. And a Glaucous Gull. There was also a number of waders including Turnstone. Redshank and Ringed plover. We left Hartlepool at 12.30 arriving at Saltholme 15 mins later, by this time the weather was bright and warm. The Highlights at Saltholme were a Long Eared Owl, a Short Eared Owl and for some a Hen Harrier. Also seen was a Stone chat a large number of Waterfowl including Pintail and Barnacle geese and a good number of Waders adding to our days list were Curlew and Golden plover. Leaving Saltolme at 4pm we called in at Greetham Creek were the Group were treated to good views of both Harbour, and Grey seals, along with Avocet and Grey Plover.
