We left springwood at 8.30 on a Sunny but cold day arriving at Leighton Moss at 10.30. Most of the group were dropped off from the coach at the Eric Morecambe Hide just as we drove up to the hide a Great White Egret could be seen in the Marsh land. Also seen from the hide was a large number of black tailed Godwits also Dunlin, Knot and Red shank and a flock of Pink footed geese flew over. We walked up to the main reserve were it was good to see Avocets and plenty of Sand martins. At the feeding area there was
Nut hatch, Reed bunting and a mixed group of finches, including Goldfinch, Greenfinch, Chaffinch and Bullfinch. A good number of Marsh Tit was seen on the reserve. Waterfowl seen, included pintail and Goldeneye. Marsh Harriers were plentiful and good views were easy to come by. Unfortunately the Heavy rain begun an hour before we were set to leave. Everyone had a good day at the beautiful reserve.
