View over reedbed, Leighton Moss

LOVE NATURE? at Leighton Moss Nature Reserve

July is a good month to see our young marsh harriers learning to use the air beneath their wings - an impressive sight! The adults returned from Africa at the end of March, and this year we have an incredible 5 females and 3 males.
We have also started a Twitter page for the first time if you want to get information about our marsh harriers right to your home computer - log on to We have also got over 100 people following our new sociable facebook page- if you want to join in then see: and find the group 'RSPB Leighton Moss nature reserve'.
We are proud and excited to announce our visitor centre refurbishment! The welcome area, café and shop have had a facelift with both counters changing to give you a better welcome and should speed up service. The shop will be more open and easier to walk around and the café has new stylish seating and a relaxing ambience. All your favourite food (whether it's bird or human!) are still available. We plan to have the work completed by 10 July and look forward to seeing you to show off our new look.
We also hope you'll enjoy meeting our new Catering Manager, Patrick Keating who started at the beginning of June and love sampling his delights!
