Walk at Roeburndale

Male chaffinch singing on branch

Saturday, 19 May 2007

RSPB visit today. 12 people attended. Very windy on the top, more sheltered in the dale. Heavy showers at lunchtime made us give up a little early.

Buzzard, kestrel, sparrowhawk, pheasant, oystercatcher, snipe, curlew, lesser black-backed gull, cuckoo, swift, swallow, meadow pipit, pied wagtail, wren, robin, redstart, stonechat, blackbird, song thrush, mistle thrush, garden warbler, blackcap, wood warbler (heard only), chiffchaff, willow warbler, pied flycatcher, marsh tit, coal tit, blue tit, great tit, nuthatch, jackdaw, crow, chaffinch, goldfinch, linnet.

Not all birds seen by all in the group. I anyone has any I have missed, please add.

Thanks to the two ringers working for showing us the birds and the ringing.

Thanks to Middlewood Trust for access and a pleasant welcome.
