Heysham, Red Nab and Middleton Visit

Route - South Harbour Wall - Outfalls - Red Nab - Nature Park - Heysham NR - Middleton NR - Pott's Corner for high tide.

The wind direction was all wrong for seawatching and visible migration - NNE instead of SW but there is always a good variety of birds to be found around Heysham as the list shows.

List of birds seen in systematic order:
Gannet - dead at Potts Corner, so doesn't really count.

9. Peregrine Falcon - 2 above power station, Male later over Middleton NR
10. Moorhen - Middleton NR
11. Coot - Middleton NR
12. Oystercatcher
13. Turnstone - 65 in summer plumage wooden jetty
14. Dunlin - 1 wooden jetty
15. Curlew - Pott's Corner
16. Black-headed Gull - Outfalls
17. Common Gull - Outfalls. Mainly second calendar years
18. Herring Gull -Outfalls and nesting on roofs at Heysham Harbour
19. Lesser Black-backed Gull - ditto
20. Sandwich Tern - 3 Pott's Corner
21. Guillemot - 1 in winter plumage floating past wooden jetty
22. Feral pigeon
23. Swallow - a few migrants flying north
24. Meadow Pipit - Pott's Corner
25. Pied Wagtail - Pott's Corner
26. Wren - Nature Park
27. Robin - Nature Park
