Planned walk from Halton old railway station to Crook O'Lune

On a wet and soggy Saturday morning three of us met Anne, the leader, at the car park of the old railway station in Halton.

It was only spots of rain when we set off from home but the skies darkened as we went west to Halton and it became a constant downpour by the time we arrived at the car park.

We waited in case anyone else arrived but I guess the wet weather had put people off turning out.
We decided to abandon the walk and after a quick check of the river by the mere and the metal bridge, we adjourned to the coffee shop at the Centre @ Halton. There were a few gulls on the island in the centre of the river and some ducks on the water but it was too bad to even get out the binoculars. After a coffee and a chat at the cafe we all returned home having spent a relaxed morning in pleasant company.

Maybe we should try again next year, surely the weather wouldn't let us down again, or would it !!!?
