Ray Jennett (1940-2008)

Ray Jennett (1940-2008)

Lichfield & District RSPB Group would like to pay tribute to their Group Leader, Ray Jennett, who died suddenly last week.

It is believed that Ray was the longest serving RSPB Group Leader across the whole of the UK. His thirty years' service was marked two years ago by the RSPB, who awarded him their Silver Bittern Award for his dedication.

His extensive knowledge and skills as a birdwatcher were shared with the wider community through leading walks for other groups and as acting a Deputy County Recorder for the West Midlands Bird Club. In addition to his public work, Ray also undertook survey work and was a passionate campaigner for the environment in Staffordshire.

Funeral service will be held at Sutton Coldfield Crematorium on Thursday 27th November at 1.00pm.
