Get to Know your (Lichfield) Birds

Monday, 1 November 2010

The latest of our 'Get to know your birds' events focused on our local patch, taking in Beacon Park and Pipe Green. The walk was aimed at those with little experience of bird watching, who could use the more experienced 'eyes and ears' of the group to learn more. We were delighted that about a dozen people joined us, some from as far afield as Cannock and Dudley.

The dull and windy morning limited the number of species we saw, but our beginner birders were able to pick up enough information on sightings and sounds to develop their knowledge. Our Group Leader's enthusiasm was also engaged by a new sighting of Golden Plover on his regularly watched patch.

This walk was sponsored by The Plant Plot nursery, who provided us with post walk warming drinks and delicious home-made biscuits in their award-winning coffee shop.

So a little local birding produced delights for all!
