Thursday, 19 June 2014

Although the day itself started with fine weather we did experience a downpour. We just made it to the hide in time to eat our lunch, staying there until such time when the weather improved. Then we continued to finish our walk.
Thirty-four birds were seen and one species was identified by its call, a song thrush.
Birds seen:
blue tit, coot, woodpigeon, Cetti's warbler, willow warbler, swallow, black-headed gull, great crested grebe, carrion crow, mute swan, cuckoo, moorhen, great tit, kingfisher, common tern, dunnock, long-tailed tit, swift, shelduck, lapwing, wren, lesser black-backed gull, grey heron, mallard, marsh harrier, blackbird, blackcap, jay, herring gull, shoveler, tufted duck, reed warbler, gadwall, pheasant
