Christmas Community Birdwatch

The weather was relatively mild for December as we set off, first taking the track from the High Street car park to the nearby sewage works. Lots of pied wagtails were around but relatively little else of note. Retracing our steps we walked along the sea front and dunes to Benacre sluice where our best sightings were a pair of stonechats. Some of our group were lucky enough to see a kingfisher as well as a rock pipit in this area. So that was about it! Although there was a dearth of species seen it was an enjoyable walk in pleasant company.
Species seen: Pied wagtail, robin, great tit, blue tit, dunnock, magpie, blackbird, moorhen, black headed gull, herring gull, wood pigeon, long tailed tit, starling, greenfinch, carrion crow, rock pipit, kingfisher, kestrel, collared dove, stonechat, mallard and the head of a grey seal.
