This morning I spotted a single Hobby hunting 2 swallows over the top car park at Tegg's Nose Country Park. The Swallows were fighting back and I think the hobby came away without a meal!

A red kite flying over the riverside park at the back of Clare Drive in Tytherington.
Our first sighting of this in Macclesfield.

20 June 2018- walk up path from Errwood car park.
Pied flycatcher feeding young in nest box before nest box H and redstart seen in wall on right hand side walking up path. Two active great spotted woodpecker nests seen with parents feeding young in both. Fledgling dippers seen and curlew and golden plover near top car park.
The lake itself held great crested grebe and cormorant. common sandpiper and little ringed plover seen on banks.

Monday 18 June 2018 - Danes Moss Cheshire Wildlife Trust Reserve (06.30 am to 08.45 am)
(This was a walk I did alone and was not specifically part of the Breeding Bird Survey)
29 species seen and/or heard - in particular: blackcap, bullfinch, common whitethroat, garden warbler, grasshopper warbler (heard), house martin, jay, reed bunting, swallow, swift, willow warbler.

Thursday 14 June 2018 Goyt Valley - walk UP the valley on the road from Errwood Hall car park towards Goytsclough Quarry - in particular:
pied flycatcher (feeding young in two nest boxes - H and J - on left hand side of road), spotted flycatcher (feeding young in nest box on left hand side of road - before nest box H), great spotted woodpecker (feeding young in nest holes in two dead trees on right hand side of road), great crested grebe, common sandpiper, dipper, grey wagtail, treecreeper.

Grey wagtail - male, bullfinch - male, goosander overflying, mandarin - female, kingfisher - two, swallow - two, lapwing - four, blackcap - four.

25 species seen and/or heard - in particular: blackcap, buzzard, chiffchaff, garden warbler, great spotted woodpecker, reed bunting, treecreeper, willow warbler.

A red kite flew over Teggs Nose Cafe - it was being harried by a crow and was flying low over the hill going westwards.
I also saw six female red deer in the upper reaches of the Errwood valley between the reservoir and Derbyshire Bridge at about 12.30 hours.

Plenty of hirundines: swifts (circa 20), house martin (25 - 30) plus handful of swallows.
Mandarin - pair, mandarin - female with 6 young, kingfisher, green woodpecker ( male).
