30/01/2019. Redesmere.
Female (redhead ) smew
Large flock of siskins.

14 Goosanders on Bottoms Reservoir. six male and eight female.

At Redesmere this afternoon there were two female smew, two female goosander, a pair of goldeneye and three great crested grebe.

25 January - Starling Murmuration
Between 4.40 &5 pm. Adjacent to BRERTON HEATH, NATURE RESERVE CONGLETON CW12 4SU.
Leave Congleton on A54 Holmes Chapel Road @ left into Brereton Heath Lane .
Park at bottom and they appear over the fields on your left.

Two great white egrets still on Redesmere.

Today at about 14.00 there was a Little Egret in the field opposite the car park at Redesmere Lake.
I can confirm it was a Little not Cattle as I spend time in the Algarve and the 2 types can at certain places be seen together. The black legs are the give away

Roosting long eared owls at Groby Flash, part of the Sandbach Flashes. They have been there all winter and are quite difficult to see in the dense hawthorn thicket - photos in pdf.

Single waxwing feeding on rowan berries.
Rowan trees inside the communal area bordered by Bridge Street/Union Street/Crossall Street/Paradise Street in central Macclesfield near B&Q.

Tuesday 15 January. A walk round the Astbury mere this morning saw the usual tufted ducks, coots, great crested grebe and one little grebe.
Standing out from the rest was a very handsome male pochard. First time I've ever seen one here!

14 January - Bollin Valley (Riverside Park)
Little egret alerted by lady called Kim.
I thought you might appreciate these photos I took yesterday in the Bollin Valley behind the Tytherington Estate (see attached pdf).

08 January - Astbury Mere today
Two redhead smew also 12 x lesser redpoll, two little grebe and drake goosander.
Only the third ever record of smew for the site.

05 January - garden sighting, Sandringham Road
Male sparrowhawk devouring feral pigeon. Took three hours then flew off with corpse. The next morning he returned and caught a jackdaw then soon flew off with it.

03 January 2019, Brocklehurst avenue Macclesfield.
Four pied details, four robins, three blue tits, two blackbirds, a few magpie, and numerous sparrows in our back garden.

I had a lovely male brambling and a lesser redpoll in the garden today, along with a very smart song thrush. The male brambling has been around for a couple of weeks, and I've also seen a female.
