Group Birding Trip to Pennington's Flash (21st Feb 2016)
Great Crested Grebe - Gordon Howard

Sunday, 21 February 2016

It was a select six who made the journey to Pennington Flash on February 21st. A rather breezy, chilly day but, on the whole, good sightings of a number of birds at the hides and along the paths.
The lake water was choppy and light poor therefore gull spotting was limited though the usual ducks and waterfowl were to be seen. We were entertained by Goldcrests flitting in front of the hide when eating our lunch, had brief views of water rail patrolling between two hides, and there was the usual mix of finches and tits at Bunting hide, including Willow and a Stock Dove. A small flock of Redpoll highlighted our return to the car park.
