Events

Our indoor season consists of eleven meetings, with a break in August. There is a good variety of subjects being covered which will hopefully offer something for everyone.

Please remember to take your membership card with you when visiting RSPB reserves. Non-members will have to pay the normal entrance fee. All are welcome on these trips no matter whether you are a beginner or expert. Help will always be given in identifying birds.

Please book coach trips and special outdoor trips early to avoid disappointment. On field trips where numbers are limited, priority will be given to paid-up Maidstone Local Group members.

During our spring visit we will enjoy a wealth of wildlife, with warblers, tree sparrows, and other woodland and wetland birds busy in their breeding seasons.

The reserve is also famously home to the successful Rutland Osprey Project, which in 2001 celebrated the first osprey chick to fledge in central England for 150 years. Currently several pairs of ospreys breed in and around Rutland Water and are regularly seen fishing over the reservoir, with this May weekend the best window to see them.
