January 2017 - Bird of the Month - Tree Sparrow

January 2017 - Bird of the Month - Tree Sparrow

Once a common bird of farmland, where it could be found in communal flocks feeding on spilt grain, the tree sparrow is now in serious decline. They can reliably be seen however at the Dungeness RSPB Reserve, where they breed and can also be seen using the bird feeders there. Join Medway Group's field trip there on Sunday 1st January 2017 for your chance to see this species. Brush up on your ID skills by viewing the BTO video and RSPB fact sheet below.

Meet your local RSPB group

We are a friendly group that cater for anyone and everyone with an interest in birds, whether you're a seasoned 'twitcher' or just starting out and looking for some like-minded company to join you on country walks throughout the beautiful Kent countryside.

If you've got time on your hands and looking to get involved in a local community group as a volunteer we would love to hear from you.
