August Bird of the Month - Little Stint

August Bird of the Month - Little Stint

Sexes are alike and both legs and bill are black in all birds. The bill is fine-tipped, straight and shorter than any Dunlins. Most autumn migrants are clean and well-marked juveniles, which can be remarkably tame. They have two distinctive white stripes (called 'braces') down their back. The flight call is a single or repeated sharp and high-pitched "stit". Join our walk on Sunday 6 August at Oare Marshes where we will endeavour to find and identify a Little Stint for you!
