RSPB Medway Local Group CHANGE of the Indoor Meeting on Tuesday 21 December 2021

Fortunately, our speaker for that evening, Simon Ginnaw, has suggested that he gives the talk on Zoom instead. The details are as follows:

Tuesday, 21 December 2021 at 7.15 for 7.30 pm

Talk entitled "Coastal Birds" by Simon Ginnaw

Simon is well known to the Group for both the excellent talks he has given us previously, and for his extensive knowledge of birds and other wildlife. He is of course a very experienced guide and is just the person to lead us through the world of coastal birds.

This will be his original talk and not a shortened Zoom version.

Members of The RSPB Medway Local Group will be sent the registration link automatically.

This presentation is being made available to non-members for a charge of £3 per person for each talk. Non-members will have to send their name and email address to Medwayrspb_descar@btinternet.com so that we can send you the registration link

Please accept our apologies for this change. I hope you will be able to join us by Zoom on Tuesday evening for what should be very enjoyable talk.

Park in the main car park where there is a parking charge. Toilets are nearby.

A previous speaker to the Group, Simon Ginnaw, gave us an animated talk on the benefits of visiting his local park in winter and to get a respite from Christmas shopping! So here we are.

We may be lucky to catch sight of a grey wagtail or kingfisher as well as possible redpoll or siskin and woodpeckers in the wooded areas.

On our walks, everyone is welcome and help is always on hand with identification. If the weather forecast is inclement follow us on: -

There are no facilities or cover at either site so please come prepared!

Meet in the Raptor Viewpoint car park and we'll spend some time scanning the area for the various birds of prey which frequent the Harty Marshes. We could also see corn buntings and possible green sandpiper here.

Then we'll drive round to Shellness for the walk to the Blockhouse and back. With the rising tide we hope to see ducks and divers on the Swale and the wader roost gathering. The bushes near the Hamlet are worth checking for passerines.
