Photo of the month - tawny owlet

One of two tawny owls ringed at Stanwick Lakes. After ringing the owlets were returned to their nest box, where they will remain for approximately a further two weeks. They will leave the nest box before they are able to fly and will spend about a week climbing around the tree branches. They will stay in their parents breeding territory until the autumn, at which point they will be driven away by their parents to set up their own territories
