Coach trip: RSPB Titchwell Marsh Reserve, North Norfolk

Location: Titchwell Marsh RSPB Reserve (Postcode PE31 8BB)
(nearest town is Hunstanton, Norfolk)
Latitude/longitude: 52.96298,0.60418 (Google map)

RSPB Havering and North East London Local Groups have joined forces for coach trips. There is a 7.00am pick-up at Redbridge Tube Station, then 7.05 at Gants Hill, then 7.10 at Newbury Park. Mike Hughes, RSPB Havering Group Leader, is the contact point for bookings and has kindly taken on the extra work for our members.
This popular reserve on the north Norfolk coast has something for everyone. A walk from the visitor centre down to the sandy beach takes you past reed-beds and shallow lagoons which are often full of birds. You can sit on benches or watch from spacious, wheelchair-accessible hides. Titchwell is renowned for its wading birds, wildfowl and geese. These gather in significant numbers from mid autumn onwards and with the arrival of migrant birds from Scandinavia and northern Europe the fresh water lagoons are soon filled with a variety of resident species and visitors. During autumn, marsh harriers can be seen soaring low over reedbeds as the light falls. In autumn and winter you can see up to 20 species of wading birds and lots of ducks and geese. A well-stocked shop has a wide range of RSPB gifts and books and a large selection of telescopes and binoculars. There is a servery and inside eating area selling a selection of hot and cold food and drinks, as well as snacks and locally-made cakes. There is a separate toilet facility.
Please book before 19 October 2018 (preferably earlier, to ensure the coach trip runs)

Location: Meet 09.30 in the car park at the bottom of Stubbins Hall Lane.
Full or half day

We want to promote links with other local nature groups who organise their own independent events. This walk is led by Roy Woodward of Buteo Wildlife for the East London Birders Forum (ELBF).
"A winter trip to Lee Valley to look for its winter jewel, the bittern. The co-stars aren't bad either with smew, water rail, goosander, wigeon, gadwall, shoveler, lesser redpoll, siskin and Cetti's warbler all possible. There is also always the chance of a kingfisher plus flocks of winter thrushes.
