Our ONLINE ZOOM MEETINGS (which started on 2nd Tuesday in Sep 2020) will continue if we are unable to meet in person.
The situation with regard to walks will be reviewed regularly in light of changing Covid-19 guidance.

When we can meet again, St Mary's Church is a short distance from the junction with Chelmsford Road. After 6.30 pm, parking is free and legal in the car park beside the Library opposite the church and also on bits of the High Road outside. Derby Road car park, a few minutes walk to the north, is free from 5.30 pm onwards.
It is about a 15 minute walk from South Woodford tube station (on Central line).
Buses 179 and W13 stop nearby.

You can find us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/nelondon) and Twitter @RSPBNELondonGrp.

Guided walk: Hainault Forest Country Park

Location: Hainault Forest Country Park, Chigwell, Essex

*** Covid-19 guidelines advised at the time of this walk, will be followed ***

For our last walk of the year we'll take a pleasant stroll around this 'Green Flag Award' site. The small lake allows good views of heron and Cormorant and the woodland will now be busy with mixed flocks of tits, Goldcrests and Treecreepers as they search for food during the winter months. The Open grassland is generally host to birds such as Green Woodpecker and Meadow Pipit and we'll keep our eyes peeled to the skies for Buzzard and Kestrel.

For all outings we advise strong waterproof footwear and warm waterproof clothing plus, of course, binoculars.

Due to issues with the RSPB computer systems, our Local Group will be unable to update the information on the Events page of our North East London RSPB website after 31st July 2021.

Social Evening / Hainault Forest update / Quiz

Location: Wherever you can connect to Zoom - hosted by the North East London RSPB Local Group. Enjoy in your own home!

Relax from Christmas preparations!

We have decided that, like last year, we will hold our social evening online using Zoom. We are unable to provide our homemade treats of mince pies and other goodies in the church so hope you will join us from home armed with your own favourites!

There will be a short talk about the progress of the Hainault Forest project - in October, contractors began work on the major £7million restoration scheme to restore Foxburrow Barns and the green spaces at Hainault Forest. The works will improve the site's ecology and natural habitats, alongside a new visitor hub including a new café, visitor centre and spaces for community hire.

We are sorry to halt our talks at St. Mary's again but feel the still high levels of Covid-19 (and the increasing levels in Europe) mean that this is the best way for us to keep everyone safe.

The format for the meeting is to open the meeting at 7.30pm allowing time for members to join the meeting and 'chat'.
At 8pm we will formally start the meeting with a quick introduction and then hand over to Francis Castro and Leva Aliejunaite for their short talk.

Then there will be a break to grab a cup of tea. Unfortunately you will have to make your own tea, unlike at a physical meeting!

Then Jeff will take on his Quizmaster role for us.

We are also hoping some of you will have emailed us a photo that you have taken of British wildlife with a few words describing why it is a favourite photo - it doesn't have to be excellent quallity, perhaps it brings back a happy memory?
If we have been sent any photos, we will present them to round off our social meeting.

Please email us at nelondonRSPB@yahoo.co.uk for details on how to join us (including guides on how to join and use Zoom).

Time: 7.30 pm for 8 pm start (to allow time to join and maybe 'chat')

Price: Donations please, to cover Zoom & speaker costs, plus some much-needed funds for the RSPB!
