Walk at Bedfords Park

Walk at Bedfords Park

"Although I was late, this gave those who turned up on time an opportunity to observe the red deer rutting. We checked the car park and discovered several goldcrests and a chiffchaff.

We then set off from the Visitor Centre and wandered through the expanse of the meadow with the glorious sun beating down on our faces which helped to warm us up as it was very chilly. Here we discovered a little owl bathing in the morning sun.

We continued on to the lake to discover a pair of common gull which were involved in synchronised calling, paddle and circling. We eventually went back through the woodland and returned to the start. We had a total of 29 birds.

Other key species:
Redwing
Reed bunting
Fieldfare
Sparrowhawk
Meadow pipit"

Those of you on the walk may realise the photo is not from Bedfords Park but from the Rye Meads walk in August!
Rye Meads RSPB Nature Reserve has started publishing a newsletter (An Eye on Rye) and our Group was interviewed and photographed while we were there.
