Rainham Marshes

Rainham Marshes

Our local reserve, opened not so many years ago, is now recognised as one of the stars in the RSPB's line-up, proving attractive to birds and other wildlife, and with excellent facilities to appreciate them.

Nicole Khan, warden at the reserve, told us about its interesting past and its promising future.

If you click on the 'Download file' link, then you will see the striking poster that David (our Publicity officer) produced to advertise this talk.

Sunday sessions for 7-11 year olds - Forest Adventurers

Sunday sessions for 7-11 year olds - Forest Adventurers

We want to promote links with other local nature groups and this programme is organised by a young Wren (i.e. Wren Wildlife and Conservation Group) member, Hannah Williams. She also works for the RSPB.

Encourage your children / grandchildren to appreciate the natural environment - they can attend one or all of the sessions - while you enjoy the Rainham Marsh reserve, or even the excellent cafe with views over the reserve and the River Thames.

Monthly Coach Trips

Monthly Coach Trips

We have again arranged to collaborate with the Havering RSPB Local Group in their birdwatching coach trips.

The essentials are that you need to book ahead, they take place on the last Saturday of the month, they involve an early morning start, they cost £17 per person and they get you to some first-class birding places.

For our area, there is a 7.00am pick-up at Redbridge Tube Station, then 7.05 at Gants Hill, then 7.10 at Newbury Park - the Redbridge and Newbury stops are especially attractive if you come by car, as the station car park provides parking all day for £2.00.

For further details about booking (including booking forms, payment, pick-up points etc), please click on the Download file link. [The booking arrangements have changed somewhat this year - the document has an extract from the Havering Newsletter explaining why.]
