Columbia Birds & Wildlife - Sue Bryan

Location: Hellesdon Community Centre (Entrance of Woodview Road)
Middletons lane
Norwich

Postcode: NR6 5QB (Google map)

For the last seven years Sue has been working as a member of staff at Titchwell Marsh RSPB after a 30 year teaching career.
Her love of birds started from about age 7 when a Waxwing alighted on a Cotoneaster bush in her garden giving her a new bird for her fledgling list not knowing what it was, before consulting her Observers Book of Birds. She has remained captivated ever since.
Sue has travelled the world extensively, including South America, Antarctica, Australia and Asia visiting over a hundred countries in pursuit of seeing birds and wildlife and has now seen nearly half the world's birds. In 2010 her then partner and Sue had a year off from their work where they did a world tour birdwatching every day mostly sleeping in a two-man tent or camper van.
Her talk on Colombia was a three week trip taken in July 2015 with Trevor Ellery as guide organised by Sunbird Tours. Colombia is one of the richest area on the planet for birds and hosts some 1870 species with at least 73 endemics. Sue visited all three 'strands' of the Andes where it splits at the top of its range travelling the valleys between them before flying north to Santa Marta on the Caribbean Sea coastline. This talk will include some of the birds and wildlife seen and some of the shared experiences undertaken.
