This National Trust reserve is a window into a lost landscape, a remnant of undrained fenland that once covered most of East Anglia. It holds 9,000 species including rare birds, plants including orchids, butterflies, dragonflies and other insects. Birds include bitterns, bearded tits, hobbies, cuckoos and a good selection of warblers. Not a place we visit often but one not to be missed. Our visit will coincide with their summer boat trips so if you feel up to it you can book a place and set sail!

Time: 7.30 am

Price: £18 for National Trust members, £24.85 otherwise
