Worldwide Garden Birdwatch
Garden birdwatching - Ashley Grove

Worldwide Garden Birdwatch

Like most of us Ashley Grove, founder of Experience Nature, has found it frustrating that at this time of year, when birders are usually enjoying watching birds around the world, on migration, or settling in to their breeding grounds, we've been understandably been asked to stay at home to stop the spread of COVID 19. He started a "Lockdown Garden Bird List" on 1 April and, since then, many people have contacted him with their sightings, so he decided to collate some of them and raise some much needed funds for the RSPB at the same time.
Ashley says: "I'd like everyone to join with me on 9 May and record the bird species you can identify by sight or sound from your own garden, wherever you are in the world. You don't have to donate to take part, a lot of us are finding it a difficult time financially, but every little will help make up for some of the losses in revenue the RSPB will experience over this time, reducing the funds needed to continue the valuable work they do to protect wildlife across the world. So whatever your level of expertise, please join in and be a part of what will be a fun and ultimately fascinating day of birdwatching, within the constraints of gardens across the world.
Please join our big day and help birdlife around the world together."
Full details on how to take part are on the Experience Nature website including the important link to Just Giving.
