In this section, is a selection of birdwatching sites in the Sheffield area which members of our Group enjoy visiting. The definition used for 'the Sheffield area' is fairly broad - encompassing places within about 45 minutes drive of the city centre and so which may be in the Peak District National Park or nearer to Chesterfield, Rotherham, Barnsley or Doncaster. Most are places which we have visited on our Group's walks, details of which can be found in the 'Events' section - with accounts of past visits in the 'Trip Reports' section.

For each site, a summary is given of the habitats present and the birds and other wildlife that might be found. Obviously, it has not been possible to list all species present and those actually seen will vary substantially from season to season.

Details are given of how to reach each site by car and, where practical, by public transport. Also provided is information on access around the site, including (where available) for those who might find mobility more difficult. Please note that none of these areas are owned by us so please address any queries about access to the site managers or to those such as 'friends of' groups who know the area well. Links for one or other of these are given for most sites.

Also provided is guidance on where toilets and refreshments may be found at or near sites. This is factual information only and the listing of an establishment doesn't necessarily constitute a recommendation! Information on both toilets and refreshments is accurate at the time the entry for each site is 'published' but please be aware that things do change.

We hope that you enjoy visiting some (or even all) of these places!
