Midweek Walk - Wyming Brook

Male blackcap in hawthorn bush

Wednesday, 13 May 2015

The sun shone providing perfect weather conditions for a bird walk at Wyming Brook.

We took the high-level tree-top path to Fox Hagg and were very soon ticking off Treecreeper, Goldcrest, Mistle and Song Thrushes. In the lower woodlands, we got Chiffchaff, Blackcap, Willow Warbler and Spotted Flycatcher.

We saw a lovely Grey Wagtail at Rivelin Dams, together with Swift and House Martin. But the best was yet to come as, on our return up the wooded valley, we had amazing views of Wood Warbler.

A truly great bird walk.
