Weekend Walk - Poolsbrook & Staveley

Long-tailed tit perched on branch

Saturday, 24 October 2015

We set off in light rain and were greeted by Mallards, Coots and Tufted Ducks. In a short while, we saw Long-tailed Tits high in the trees accompanied by a Willow Tit -which was a bit special - and then a Kingfisher was spotted perching on a branch.

By then our spirits had certainly lifted, the rain stopped and we went on to see Goldfinches, Great-crested Grebes, Grey Herons, two species of gull, and a Mistle Thrush.

What had started as a drab and damp day turned into a great bird walk.
