Midweek Walk - Greno Woods

Nuthatch on branch

Wednesday, 11 October 2017

We set off from the car park on a very windy autumnal morning, with a forecast for heavy rain. Luckily, the rain didn't start until we had nearly finished, and because we were sheltered in woodland we managed to keep dry.

Spotting birds was hard work due to the windy conditions and we struggled to see even common species like Blackbird, Blue Tit, Robin and Wren. A scan across some fields produced distant views of a Buzzard and a Kestrel but we played hide and seek with calling Goldcrests without much success.

As we crunched the newly fallen leaves underfoot we remarked on the stunning autumn colours, which added to an enjoyable October walk.
