On a pleasant day only four members made the journey to Ludlow during a period of severe flooding in the county. Whitcliffe Common is a site run by the friends of Whitcliffe Common in conjunction with Shropshire Wildlife Trust, whil Mortimer Forest is a Forestry Commission Site.

Normally a trip to this area will include a visit to the river, a walk around the common, finishing with a walk up through Mortimer Forest.

On this day however the so there was little point in spending time there. So the group walked through the common and were treated to good views of common woodland species although nothing out of the ordinary was seen.

We then moved on to the Mortimer Forest and walked to the top of the woodland. The footpaths were very muddy but good views of Buzzard, Raven, Wren and Bullfinch made it worthwhile.
Thirty species were seen by the members and the day was enjoyed by those that attended.
