Male blackcap in hawthorn bush

Collection at Tescos

For 8 hours on both the final Friday and Saturday of January, hardy volunteers from the group, shook their RSPB collecting tins outside the Tesco store at Monkspath, Solihull. Despite the challenging economic times, the store's customers responed with great generosity and donated a splendid total of £636.
The collection coincided with the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch and good numbers of forms for the survey were handed out. Volunteers enjoyed many a conversation with shoppers about "their" birds and how they fed them - including one customer who had to put out meat for a pair of buzzards every day!
Many thanks to Tesco, our volunteers and everyone who supported us.
