September collections

Our annual street collection in Solihull, Knowle and other local shopping centres took place this year on the first Saturday in September rather than in late November as is usual. We were therefore looking forward to collecting in the warm and with the sun shining. However it was not to be and it poured with rain! However people must have had sympathy for us and we amassed a creditable £690 pounds.
6 days later we were back in action but this time wielding buckets rather than tins, having kindly been given permission by Tesco to collect at their Monkspath Store. This time we were under cover ( but, of course, it didn't rain) and we collected a further £260
Many thanks to everyone who shook a tin or carried a bucket at these two events.

New Season

Our group has been running now since 1983 and one of our speakers in our inaugural season was a certain Mike Wilkes, who has returned many times over the years to entertain us with his wonderful photography.
So we were very pleased to welcome Mike back for the start of our 2016/17 season - this time to talk about the Galapagos Islands and the cloud forest in Ecuador. As ever his shots and images were fantastic and we couldn't have asked for a better start to the new year.
