Celebrating 50 Years of RSPB Local Groups

The RSPB is this year celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the formation in 1969 of the first Local members Groups. A number of events are planned around the country from September through to April 2020 to celebrate the occasion.

The South East Herts Members Group is organising a celebration fun day event at the RSPB Rye Meads Reserve on Sunday September 29th between 10am and 4.00pm. The group will be joined by the Potters Bar and Barnet, North East London and North West London Members Groups. The entertainment comprises of a bird race (how many species can you see within a set time) with guides in the hides, a bird call game, pond dipping, a quiz based on objects around the reserve, a Gold themed quiz, raffles, cakes and preserves stall, refreshments, presentations, memorabilia & more. Local wildlife artist, Steve Kershaw, will display some of his paintings.

Everyone is welcome, so please come along!

The group committee decided two years ago to discontinue the annual delivery of a paper newsletter in favour of embracing social media to reach out to more people. We instead produce a monthly newsletter containing news items, upcoming events and regular wildlife articles and a further newsletter between October and May advertising our popular local Wednesday morning walks. We send these to people wishing to receive them via email.

We would be pleased to add you to our mailing lists but must adhere to the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and ask that you give your consent for us to contact you.

Please contact us via the group email address se_herts_rspb@yahoo.co.uk and advise which newsletter(s) you would like to receive. You can unsubscribe at any time again by emailing us and advise which newsletter(s) you no longer wish to receive.

You can also follow the group via our website and download a copy of our Sept 2019 - July 2020 programme. Novices and beginners in particular as well as seasoned birdwatches are welcome to attend all our events.
