New Group Leader for Southport Group

New Group Leader for Southport Group

After a few years without a Leader it is fantastic news that Mike has volunteered to take this role.
He has been a member of the Group for many years and has connections with our coastal community through his previous work as a Sefton Councillor.
Mike said 'I'm now full retired and looking for a way back into my former life where I can help improve the welfare of Southport's residents. I hope to do that by volunteering to lead the Southport RSPB Group. Now that Covid is thankfully receding this is an ideal opportunity for people to take a close look at where they live, pick up (or buy) their binoculars and be rejuvenated by the wildlife that share the space they live in.'

Anybody, young or old, will be made welcome at the group's monthly meetings which include illustrated talks. The meetings are currently held online, due to the pandemic. But we aim to return to our usual indoor venue in the New Year when the meeting can revert to a social occasion where members can chat over tea and biscuits and browse for goods at our RSPB stall.

We also have monthly field trips led by our own experts to help members new to bird watching to identify what they can see and hear.

You don't have to know anything about birds to join, you simply need to enjoy watching them and learning about them!
