Morning bird watching outing to Amwell

An overcast day with a chilly light breeze. There was plenty of activity on the lakes though no bittern or water rail on this occasion. House martins were still in evidence, and a distant hobby, preparing for their flight south. In summary this was a very pleasant walk to see the changing of the season in the avian world.

Seen: Mute Swan, Greylag Goose, Canada Goose, Wigeon, Gadwall, Teal, Mallard, Shoveler, Pochard, Tufted Duck, Great Crested Grebe, Cormorant, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Sparrowhawk, Buzzard, Hobby, Moorhen, Coot, Lapwing, Snipe, Common Sandpiper, Black-headed Gull, Stock Dove, Woodpigeon, Collared Dove, Kingfisher, Great Spotted Woodpecker, House Martin, Dunnock, Robin, Blackbird, Mistle Thrush, Long-tailed Tit, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Jay, Magpie, Jackdaw, Carrion Crow, Starling, House Sparrow, Chaffinch, Goldfinch, Reed Bunting.

Heard: Cetti's Warbler
