Sunday, 11 December 2016

West Hyde pits is a new area for the group to go birding,it was a sunny cool morning. Twelve of us set off from the meeting point on Old Uxbridge Rd , by the footpath, which led down to flooded pits on each side. The path continued towards the River Colne across bridge to Grand Union Canal, via the Coy Carp pub no carp were seen in the river. About half mile walk along canal to a weir, where we watched two Little Ergets , Gray Heron , and heard a Cetties Warbler which did show it self, on the way back to other path watched Pied and Gray Wagtails on side off canal , where the house moorings were.At other path which led back over the river via wooden bridge on to a track, that divided the right hand lake and the sailing lake on the left .
