Two day Field Trip to Slimbridge WWT - Day 2

Members were able to tour the site at their own pace as well as being able to ask advice, from the Group leaders, for explanations that were not available from the signage. It was a wonderful opportunity, for the photographers amongst us, to update and add to their portfolios.

Members gathered later in the day, as the high tide approached, to watch the birds on the marshes. These included common cranes, peregrine falcons, common buzzards, barnacle and Canada geese, greylags and dark-bellied Brent geese.

We were all delighted to see and photograph an obliging water rail (see image) that appeared close to one hide and seemed very content to forage in the open, giving magnificent views.
