Hedgehogs

Hedgehogs

According to the BTO, in November Garden BirdWatchers recorded more active Hedgehogs in gardens than in previous years and sightings remained higher than average for December (2007-2015).

This activity was most notable in the south and east, which also experienced warmer temperatures than the rest of the UK. Hedgehogs need to accumulate fat reserves before hibernation, and it's likely that they were making use of milder conditions to continue foraging. Now that the temperature has dropped, most Hedgehogs should be hibernating; if you're concerned about a Hedgehog you've found, please contact your local vet or wildlife centre, and also remember to report any sick wildlife to Garden Wildlife Health.

Be part of the world's largest wildlife survey.

Sunday 22nd January to Friday 27th: Join RSPB Tonbridge Local Group to prepare for the world's biggest wildlife survey in the booking hall at Tunbridge Wells rail station. Members of the group will be available 10.00-12 noon to let you know how to take part in the birdwatch, assist with those tricky bird IDs and advise on how you can attract more species of wildlife to your garden.
