Update: RSPB policy on gamebird shooting and land management

There is growing concern from members and the general public about the environmental impact of intensive game bird shoots. This includes driven grouse moor management and large scale release of non-native game birds such as pheasants and red-legged partridges, now more than 40 million birds annually. The RSPB has therefore decided to review its policy in this area.

Tonbridge & Malling raises concerns about Tunbridge Wells plan

Almost 7000 new homes are proposed in Tudeley, Capel and Paddock Wood. This could have a serious impact on health and education services in Tonbridge, as well as road and rail transport. Tonbridge council has called for more consultation with Tunbridge Wells.

The proposals would see farmland and floodplains covered, including development on Green Belt & the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Consultation on the local plan is open now until mid-November. A group of local residents is asking people to sign a petition and raise their objections directly with Tunbridge Wells council.
