Field trip to Minsmere

There were brilliant sightings of the bittern, marsh harrier, bearded tit and hobby. There were very few flowers around and not a great variety of butterflies.

Birds seen: starling, house sparrow, pied wagtail, blackbird, carrion crow, chaffinch, goldfinch, greenfinch, sand martin, magpie, Cetti's warbler, hobby, swift, willow warbler, blackcap, garden warbler, nightingale, bar-tailed godwit, barnacle goose, Canada goose, lapwing, pheasant, mallard, shoveler, shelduck, black-headed gull, moorhen, little egret, coot, greylag goose, avocet, great black-backed gull, mute swan, redshank, woodpigeon, gadwall, house martin, cormorant, oystercatcher, blue tit, wren, chiffchaff, marsh harrier, grey heron, herring gull, bittern, green woodpecker, jackdaw, dunnock, reed warbler, bearded tit, great crested grebe, robin, common tern, common gull, Sandwich tern, tufted duck, osprey, great tit, ringed plover, kittiwake, red-legged partridge, great spotted woodpecker, garganey, lesser black-backed gull, swallow, whitethroat and little tern. Flowers: Ground Ivy, Bluebell, Dove's-foot Crane's-bill, Lady's Smock, Buttercup and Gorse

Butterflies: Red Admiral and Marbled White

Mammals: Stoat
