Field trip to Riverside Country Park

Field trip to Riverside Country Park
Brent geese (RSPB images)

Saturday, 17 December 2016

We had brilliant sunny weather when we arrived, after leaving the gloom up to Bluebell Hill. Although it did mist over as the day went on and was quite foggy by the time we finished around 2:30pm.

The timing with the tide was perfect as it slowly came in. We didn't get very far from the car park, only up to Bloors Wharf.

We had 39 species & nothing unusual, but excellent views of ducks & waders, waders especially & lots of them. Good numbers of avocet, dunlin, redshank, curlew, ringed & grey plover and godwits.

It was a very enjoyable day and our group were delighted to have such good views of common birds.
