Nightjar Walk

Nightjar Walk
Nightjar: RSPB images

Tuesday, 26 June 2018

Some twelve people enjoyed an evening walk round Broadwater Warren and a successful dusk search for nightjar. We had very good views of nightjar flying after hearing them churr. We also heard their wing claps. Some of us saw a barn owl, which was a first for the reserve. Earlier we had been treated to a late flying dragonfly, which was hard to identify as the light was going. Walking back under an almost full moon gave wonderful moon shadows.

Birds seen and heard:
Whitethroat (h);
Blackbird;
Goldcrest (h);
Woodpigeon;
Carrion crow;
Yellowhammer;
Linnet;
Tree pipit (h);
Barn owl
and NIGHTJAR
